American filmmaker, screenwriter, singer, blogger, and podcaster Raymond De Felitta was born on June 30, 1964. Defliata’s birthplace is New York City. His paternal grandfather was an Italian immigrant named Frank De Felitta, and his maternal grandmother was a Polish Jew named Dorothy Gilbert De Felitta. De Felitta completed her education at Bard College in 1985 and the American Film Institute’s directing programme in 1990. He had his AFI thesis short, Bronx Cheers, nominated for Best Live Action Short Film at the 63rd Academy Awards the following year. His screenplay “Begin The Beguine” won the Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting later that year, in 1991. Café Society, starring Frank Whaley, Peter Gallagher, and Lara Flynn Boyle, was written and directed by him in 1995.


The film had its world debut at the 1995 Cannes Film Festival in the Director’s Fortnight (Quinzaine des Réalisateurs) section and afterwards shown on the Showtime Network the following year, 1996.
