Reeve grew up in Manhattan’s West Village neighbourhood with his brother Zane and sister Paris. He grew up in a musical and acting family: his father, John, was a commercial songwriter, his mother, Marti, was a singer, actress, and jewellery designer, and his great uncle was Academy Award-winning actor Art Carney.
He can play the piano and has started singing for radio and television commercials. At the age of eight, he was chosen to sing with Peter, Paul, and Mary in a live performance and video at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall. He later recorded a song with a children’s choir for Michael Jackson’s album, HIStory, two years later. Reeve attended the Academy of Music at Alexander Hamilton High School in Los Angeles with his brother, Zane, and future bandmates Aiden Moore and Jon Epcar to get a music education. He went on to study studio jazz guitar at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music.
Career \sMusic Reeve began playing guitar at the age of 12, and three years later he was performing professionally at B.B King’s nightclub in Los Angeles. Reeve released his first EP “Looking Glass” in 2004 while living in California, and promoted it by performing with other musicians, including Jonny Lang. At the age of 22, he signed with Interscope and formed Carney, a jazz-infused rock band that included Reeve (songwriter, vocals, and guitar), his brother Zane (guitar), Aiden Moore (bass), and Jon Epcar (drums). David Sonenberg, the band’s manager, was drawn to them because of their vision and talent. Carney released their first EP, “Nothing Without You,” in 2008, followed by their debut album, “Mr. Green Vol. 1,” in May 2010. In 2009, the band toured with The Veronicas on their Revenge Is Sweeter world tour, and in 2011, they opened for Arcade Fire and U2 on the final date of the U2 360° Tour in Moncton, Canada on July 30.
