Tati Gabrielle Bio

When Hobson was born on January 25, 1996, her mother was a Korean-American and her father was African-American. She grew up in San Francisco, California. Gabrielle began modeling at the age of three and began working with Macy’s and Nordstrom at the age of five. Gabrielle got admitted into the theatrical department at Oakland School for the Arts when she was in middle school. After graduating from OSA, Gabrielle went on to win numerous honors for her work in theatre festivals throughout the world, including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland.

Upon graduating from high school in Georgia and moving to Atlanta, Tati enrolled at Spelman College, where she majored in French and Drama, respectively. In addition to her performances in The 100, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and You, she has also provided the voice of Willow Park in the Disney animated series The Owl House. It was in 2014 short To Stay the Sword, in which Gabrielle originally appeared as Tatiana Hobson, that she gained recognition for her performance as Keating.

Gabrielle relocated to Los Angeles in 2015 to pursue a career in film and television. She appeared in Tatterdemalion, a 2015 short film, and Just Jenna, a 2016 television series, both as Monique. Tati Gabrielle made her Disney Channel debut in 2016 as Wackie Jackie on the comedic series K.C. Undercover in the episode “Tightrope of Doom.” A few months later, in the episode “Stealing Home,” Gabrielle appeared as Hacksaw on Nickelodeon’s The Thundermans. Gaia, a character in The 100, a post-apocalyptic drama on The CW, was Gabrielle’s first regular role in 2017.

During the same year, she appeared in an episode of Dimension 404 called “Bob,” in which she played Amanda’s sibling. Her first notable film role was as Addie in 2017’s The Emoji Movie, and she also appeared in Freakish and Tarantula as Birdie in the second season of Hulu’s Freakish. In the Netflix original series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Gabrielle was cast as Prudence, a series regular in March 2018.

A character in the upcoming Uncharted film has yet to be cast for Gabrielle. As part of the third season of the Netflix psychological thriller You, Gabrielle was cast as Marianne Bellamy. On Netflix’s “You,” Tati Gabrielle enters a new type of the heightened genre landscape in the Madre Linde suburbs after working on “The 100” and the witchy “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.” On paper, Marienne (Penn Badgley) would have appeared to be a lost cause as Joe Goldberg’s (Penn Badgley) latest obsession.

However, she is a far cry from the women he was used to, and she has a dark past of her own. Variety quotes Gabrielle as saying, “Since she doesn’t trust him, she’ll be a touch cautious and trembling in the way she moves.” Ryan (Scott Michael Foster), her abusive ex, has left her, but she is still tethered to him because of the bond they had together. Ryan has a lot more clout than Marianne, and he’s threatening to take their daughter away from them. Despite Joe’s decision to remove Ryan from the equation once he realizes he’s still abusing, Marienne is still in jeopardy.

Victoria Pedretti plays Love, who discovers that Joe is interested in Marienne and decides to take her out on a date. As Joe lies paralyzed on the floor, barely steps away from the women in Love and Joe’s home after a heated confrontation, Marienne’s daughter enters, changing everything for Love. However, she warns Marienne about Joe before letting them go. To learn about growing Marienne’s faith in Joe, filming the pivotal last sequence with Victoria, and Gabrielle’s plans for the show’s future, check out this interview with Variety.

At first, how much of Marienne’s standoffishness toward Joe was due to her own instincts about him versus what she had learned from previous relationships with men like Ryan? Both, in my opinion. For the most part, I believe that Marienne’s mistrust of males stems from her disdain for both the town and the rich, entitled individuals with whom she is frequently in contact. She has no faith in anyone in this town because she is well aware of her position as an outsider. As a result, she assumes the worst about almost everyone she meets.

In my opinion, it wasn’t until he started talking about his upbringing and his past that she truly started to trust him and feel a connection to him. If I remember well, Tati and Marienne had never had a conversation when Marianne said, “Oh, maybe this man isn’t that horrible.” As soon as she established common ground with him, she began to lower her defenses and open up to him. So how did you and Penn play with how much Joe needed to win her over in that moment, knowing all the things he does to win her over or make himself attractive?

That happened later, I believe, and we talked about it more. I don’t believe it was done as a ploy, but more as a result of his own self-doubts about being in Madre Linda at the time. As a result of these discussions, both Penn and I as well as showrunner Sera Gamble and director Silver Tree made adjustments to specific scenes. I loved Sera’s concern for Marienne’s identity as a Black woman, and her refusal to make her ignorant of some issues was something I felt strongly about protecting. With Joe, she shouldn’t be able to just be swept away.

Despite the fact that she is extremely different from the other women in his life, did you go back and watch any of their performances in Seasons 1 and 2 to see if there was a similarity that he is drawn to in any of them? No. There was no doubt in my mind that I’d already seen the first two seasons, as I was a huge fan of the show prior to joining the cast. To help Sera carry the plot along, I knew that Marianne would have to be unaware of Joe’s presence since she is preoccupied with her own problems.

However, we chose to emphasize Marienne’s obliviousness to Joe because she is so preoccupied with her own problems. She is more vulnerable to Joe because of Ryan’s and the child’s commotion. She was able to be swooned and fall into the fantasy because she wanted to have a sense of serenity. Marianne is going through a lot of things that aren’t seen on film. We hear about you a lot more than we see you perform. I’m curious what you did to give a more thorough picture of her life. Sketching it out for myself was a necessity.

I was fortunate to speak with a mother who had a similar experience to Marienne’s, in that her child was taken away because of her own problems. As a result, I was eager to learn more about the ins and outs of that so that I could accurately convey that to Marianne. In spite of how well-dressed Marienne was supposed to appear, I wanted to be aware of what could have been going on behind the scenes and lay that down for myself so that it could influence whatever ticks she could have in specific situations.

This woman is a bad-ass, she’s a bad-ass mother, and she’s trying to recover, so I needed to know who she was when she wasn’t at the library to get the full image of her. I’m suspicious, but I assume it’s because I’m suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. There is a perpetual paranoia and anxiety that comes with having been in an abusive relationship, which I am quite familiar with. You’re constantly in a fight-or-flight situation. There was a level of pure traumatic paranoia from their past together that made Marienne apprehensive of Ryan, but I think she had a reasonable suspicion of him.

A strange vibe pervades the situation, and Marienne’s obliviousness is causing her to wonder “What’s going on?” again. She doesn’t see the knife behind her back, therefore she didn’t have to play the “Oh, I’m going to die” role. In this house, she doesn’t know if these folks are murderers, but the moment she steps foot inside, something is amiss. Seeing Love is a scorned lady, Marienne is feeling betrayed by her husband.

To put it another way: Marienne thinks she and Joe are going to be happy, and she doesn’t want this to be her reality, but she’s pleased for herself because she thinks she and Joe are going to be happy. Love to Marienne has been portrayed by Joe as a mediocre woman. It was merely a game of what Marienne thought reality was and not what Love thought reality was. No, I’m still fascinated and a little perplexed by the situation.

I believe Marianne would move to Paris with her child and lead the life she had always wished for, but all I know is that she hates Madre Linda to death. I haven’t had any discussions about what it looks like yet, but I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes. On the other hand, I fear that she will be sent into a coma if she discovers that she has fallen for yet another toxic person. As far as I can tell, I don’t believe Marienne would be as vulnerable to his ploys and games as his prior victims were. I’d really like to see her find her power and overcome Joe in some way and break the pattern of recursive violence.
