As a kid in Miami, Florida, Jackson’s parents, Marlene Esther (née Blackstad) and James McCaslin Jackson, both of whom worked as gym instructors, met and married while he was still a child. Jackson has been training in gymnastics since she was five years old, thanks to her father’s guidance. Up until the age of eighteen, she competed in gymnastics competitions.
