In the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Elliott Sadler drives the No. 1 OneMain Financial Chevrolet for JR Motorsports. His sibling, Hermie Sadler, also competes in NASCAR. After receiving a basketball scholarship to play at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, Sadler, unfortunately, suffered a knee injury that terminated his playing career. Sadler started racing in NASCAR’s Xfinity Series back in 1997.

Sadler was hurt in a stage dive attempt on May 26, 2006, during a live broadcast of Trackside Live on the SPEED Channel from Charlotte. Jeff Hammond, a show analyst, had been stage-diving into the Charlotte audience for the last three years, and when he attempted it on this occasion, he urged Sadler to do the same. Sadler positioned himself to dive, but he lost his footing, fell off the platform, and crashed to the ground, striking a metal barrier on the way down.
